Alexandra currently lives in Hampshire with her husband and two young children. Wherever she is in the world her heart is in the wild landscapes of Devon, and the family are hoping to be making the move to the west country very soon.
For as long as she can remember Alexandra has loved folklore, legend, myth and faerytales, particularly those of Britain and Europe. At the age of 14 Alexandra first saw the movie "Labyrinth" which began a lifelong love of the incredible artwork of Brian & Wendy Froud (and an eternal crush on David Bowie). The documentary "The Making of Labyrinth" led her to persue a career making models, props and special effects for TV and film.
After taking a break from films to start a family Alexandra finally found a little time to start painting. After so many years of reading fantasy and folklore, and admiring the paintings of the Frouds, Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, Linda Ravenscroft and many other fantasy artists, she is finally trying to get some of the pictures that are taking up valuable space in her head out onto paper.
Having young children is also having an influence on her work; as well as painting the little ones Alexandra can be found in the hedgerows collecting wood to make faery houses and boats, hoarding fabric remnants for faery and pirate dolls, and swearing at her sewing machine instruction book. She usually has PVA glue and paint stains all over her hands, pockets full of tissues and assorted oddments, and at least one child sitting on her lap.
